LEARN INC. has served a number of local employers as part of the Incumbent Worker Training Program, an innovative program that enables Louisiana businesses to access $50 million in training dollars annually for existing employees.

Under the program, which is a partnership between the state, a training provider, and an employer, most companies receive an average of $270,000 worth of training over a two-year period to update and enhance the skill levels of their employees. Employers are eligible if they have 15 or more employees and have paid unemployment insurance for the past three years; smaller employers can form a consortium with other businesses.

LEARN INC. provides the training, which is funded by the state. In return, the employer is expected to provide employees with appropriate advancement and reward for completing the training. It is up to the employer to determine who will get the training.
